Beauty Tips You’ll Be Thankful For

by Dr. Asirot

A good skin care routine is important no matter what the season is. Thanksgiving is a festive yet stressful season to celebrate with friends and family. It is easy to indulge in pies and sugary food. Skipping a step in your skincare regimen can lead to skin breakouts and unfavorable consequences.

Cleanse. Wash away the dead skin cells and impurities of your skin using a gentle facial cleanser. Don’t sleep with makeup on as clogged pores may lead to acne.

Rejuvenate. It is advisable to apply corrective serums and/or medications after patting your face dry. Antioxidant serums neutralize free radicals that cause skin damage. Applying a retinoid such as retinol improves the appearance of fine lines, pores, and skin texture. Products that target melanin production help with skin darkening or hyperpigmentation.

Moisturize. It is important to hydrate your skin. Cold months cause more skin dryness. Water-based, hypoallergenic moisturizers are generally appropriate for sensitive skin. Products which contain hyaluronic acid help bind moisture to your skin giving your skin a smoother appearance.

Protect. Use broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays with at least SPF30. Reapplication every couple of hours even during cloudy days prevents wrinkles and skin cancer.

Happy thanksgiving from Dr. Asirot!
